Every Monday I check the published price of every GLP-1 program on the chart. Here is what moved, and the cheapest way in this week.

What changed this week

Novo is raising the price of a Wegovy pill dose. The 4mg tablet is $149 a month right now. On September 1 it becomes $199. The starter 1.5mg dose stays $149 and the 25mg maintenance dose stays $299, so this lands on one group: anyone stepping up through 4mg in September, who pays 34% more than they would have in August. Deal of the week

Three ways to be the cheapest, and no single program wins all three.

Cheapest first month: $25 at WeightWatchers Clinic. Then it is $373 a month.

Cheapest to stay on: $149 a month, compounded semaglutide at Strut Health.

Cheapest for a full year: $159 a month at Shed, paid up front for twelve months, and non-refundable once the medication ships.

The cheapest GLP-1s this week

$149 a month, compounded semaglutide at Strut Health. That is the entry rate. It climbs with your dose.

$159 a month at Shed, on the twelve-month plan. Six months is $179, month to month is $199.

$169 a month at Found, on the twelve-month plan. Month to month it is $289.

$175 a month at Ivim Health, on the six-month supply: a $75 membership plus about $100 for the medication.

What's moving in GLP-1

Strut is now pricing tirzepatide by the day. It reads $4.97 a day, which is $149 a month, the same price as before. A number shown by the day looks smaller than the same number shown by the month.

Medvi bills every 28 days, not every month. Thirteen bills fit in a year, so its $299 a month is closer to $3,887 a year than the $3,588 you would get from twelve.

Mochi settled its pricing question. One price at every dose: $99 a month for compounded semaglutide, $199 for tirzepatide, on top of a $79 membership. The "starting at $60" on its homepage is not in the terms, so it is not the price we publish.

Does your insurance cover any of this?

The odds depend on where you live. Only 19 of 51 states cover Wegovy or Zepbound on Medicaid, and every one of them makes you get prior approval first. See your state On the Oregon Health Plan, for example, Wegovy is covered only for heart disease and Zepbound only for sleep apnea, not for weight loss. Oregon's rules

From the research

Regeneron started recruiting for an obesity drug this week. Its Phase 2 study of olatorepatide, a weekly shot that works like tirzepatide, is enrolling 360 adults at five sites in California, Florida and Kentucky. Regeneron joins Lilly and Novo Nordisk as the third big drugmaker running a weight-loss study on our board. Boehringer Ingelheim also opened enrollment for a 600-person Phase 3 of survodutide in type 2 diabetes, with sites live in more than 30 states. Two university studies of semaglutide began recruiting as well: liver fat at the University of Virginia, and drinking in people with HIV at Yale. We track 90 clinical trials, 78 of them now recruiting.
