Verdict

Sesame is a cash-pay marketplace, not a program. Pay one fee, see one doctor, leave with a script. Cheapest path to a real branded GLP-1 prescription if you can fill it elsewhere. Zero ongoing care. That is the point and the limit.

Pros

  • Cheapest path to a real branded GLP-1 prescription, $30-$99 per visit.
  • No subscription and no recurring billing. Nothing to cancel.
  • Same-day video visits with marketplace clinicians.
  • You pick the pharmacy, no integrated supply chain to lock you in.
  • Spanish-speaking clinicians available.

Cons

  • Provider quality varies, marketplace model means no editorial vetting.
  • Some clinicians on the platform refuse to prescribe GLP-1.
  • Zero ongoing care, no follow-up unless you book again.
  • Medication cost is separate and not negotiated by Sesame.
  • No coaching, dietitian or accountability layer.
Best for

Self-directed buyers who want a one-off prescription and will manage refills, sourcing and titration on their own.

Not for

Anyone wanting coaching, dietitian access, ongoing accountability or an integrated medication supply chain.

Pricing

$229/mo month-to-month low end ($99 membership + sema at cost from $130). The annual membership plan lowers it to $189/mo. Pay-per-visit one-off prescriptions also available.

Cash-pay all-in starts at $189/mo This is the membership only, medication is billed separately.

Lock-in & cancellation

Month-to-month

Pure pay-per-visit. There's no membership and no recurring billing. Nothing to cancel.

How to cancel: Success by Sesame is $59/mo on annual plan ($99 month-to-month); per-visit route has no recurring billing. Annual plan locks the $59 rate.

Medication options

Sesame does not dispense medication. Clinicians prescribe to your retail pharmacy of choice; sourcing and pricing happen outside the platform.

Compounded GLP-1: regulatory context in 2026.

The FDA officially removed semaglutide from the drug-shortage list in February 2025, which narrowed the legal basis for routine 503A compounding of exact-copy semaglutide. Sesame Care addresses this by using a personalized-formulation model (the compound includes an additional active ingredient like vitamin B12) which is legally distinct from the FDA-approved product. The active GLP-1 molecule is the same; the regulatory framing is different. Some state pharmacy boards have tightened oversight in 2025-2026. For the full background see our compounded vs FDA-approved breakdown.

DisclosurePublicly disclosed

Sesame named both Medivant and Foothills Pharmacy publicly, making it one of the more transparent programs. However, the FDA 503B semaglutide compounding window closed on 5/22/2025; Sesame's post-shortage compounding model is unconfirmed.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sesame Care legit?
Yes. Sesame Care is a real, operating GLP-1 telehealth service that connects you with a licensed US clinician and a pharmacy. On our independent review it scores 8.2 out of 10, graded on pricing transparency, cancellation terms, onboarding, medication options and member reviews. Its cash price starts at $189/mo. It bills month-to-month with no lock-in. "Legit" is not the same as "best for you": read the verdict and the full score breakdown above to decide if it fits your budget and needs.
Is Sesame Care a scam?
No. We found no evidence that Sesame Care is a scam. It is a functioning telehealth program with licensed prescribers, real medication and a published cancellation policy, not a fake storefront. The caveats are in our score of 8.2 out of 10: pricing and the maintenance-dose total are the things to check, since the advertised figure is often the starter dose. Compare it against the rest of the chart before deciding.
Does Sesame include the medication?
No. Sesame is a doctor visit marketplace. You pay for the visit then fill the prescription at any pharmacy. Medication cost is separate and usually higher than program-style offerings.
Will any Sesame doctor prescribe Wegovy or Zepbound?
Most weight-loss-listed clinicians will, but it is at the clinician's clinical discretion. Filter by GLP-1 or weight-loss specialization when booking.
Do I need a follow-up?
Refills usually require a new visit. Some clinicians offer message-based refill renewal at lower cost; ask during your first visit.
