Verdict

Knownwell is the best credentialed name in the new wave. It runs clinics as well as telehealth, and a Harvard obesity doctor founded it. It bills your health plan. Cash payers are not who it is built for.

Pros

  • It mixes clinic visits with telehealth, so the same practice keeps your records between visits.
  • It works with the doctor you already have, and with your records.
  • Your plan is billed as it would be at any family practice. Nothing to subscribe to.
  • A dietitian is on hand, and the intake knows the bariatric path.

Cons

  • It takes 14 days to onboard, with a full clinical intake.
  • There are few places you can walk into.
  • There is no compounded fallback when a plan turns down a branded drug.
  • Waits for a prior authorization are common.
Best for

People with good coverage who want a family doctor and obesity care in one practice.

Not for

People who pay cash only, people with no coverage, and anyone who wants a prescription from an online form with no visit.

Is Knownwell a scam?
No. We found no evidence that Knownwell is a scam. It is a functioning telehealth program with real medication and a published cancellation policy.
Is Knownwell available in my state?
Telehealth covers most states. The clinics you can walk into are mostly in the Northeast, in MA, CT and NY, and it is opening more. Check the site for where it reaches now.
Do they prescribe compounded GLP-1?
No. Knownwell writes only branded GLP-1s that the FDA has approved, filled at a normal pharmacy counter.
Do I need insurance?
The model is built around health plans. You can pay cash, but that is not the main offer, and you should expect to pay what any medical practice charges for a visit.
