The VA opened a study last week asking whether semaglutide makes people drink less. It wants 622 veterans, across 19 VA hospitals in 14 states.

It's a Phase 3, the last and biggest stage of testing. Half the group gets semaglutide and half gets a placebo, and nobody knows who got which, including the doctors. Answers aren't due until 2030.

To get in you have to be a veteran between 18 and 80, have a BMI of 21 or over, have moderate or severe alcohol use disorder, and want to cut back.
