The VA opened a study last week asking whether semaglutide makes people drink less. It wants 622 veterans, across 19 VA hospitals in 14 states.

It's a Phase 3, the last and biggest stage of testing. Half the group gets semaglutide and half gets a placebo, and nobody knows who got which, including the doctors. Answers aren't due until 2030.

To get in you have to be a veteran between 18 and 80, have a BMI of 21 or over, have moderate or severe alcohol use disorder, and want to cut back. Other conditions rule people out, and the site screens for those. The sites run from Long Beach to Durham to Madison. The study in plain English: the VA alcohol study

No price on the chart moved this week. Three Mondays in a row now. I check every program's published price every Monday.

$178 a month at Mochi Health. That's $79 for the membership and $99 for the compounded semaglutide, at every dose, no lock-in.

$198 a month at Eden, a $99 membership plus $99 compounded semaglutide.

76 clinical trials are recruiting, two more than last Monday. Many pay for the study medication and the study visits, and some pay for travel. Many include a placebo group, so the medication is never guaranteed. Ask the study team what that study covers before you sign the consent form. A pre-screen sorts all 76 by ZIP code. Recruiting companies may pay us for referrals. Find one near you
