Does Florida Blue cover Wegovy and Zepbound?

No. Florida Blue does not pay for Wegovy and Zepbound for weight loss.

Florida Blue commercial plans exclude Wegovy, Zepbound, and Saxenda for weight loss and cover GLP-1 drugs only for type 2 diabetes, per its provider bulletin effective April 1, 2025.

Does Florida Blue cover Mounjaro?

Yes, with prior approval. Florida Blue pays for Mounjaro once your prescriber gets the plan to sign off.

Florida Blue covers Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes on its commercial plans, but only with prior authorization. The provider has to document a type 2 diabetes diagnosis and show the patient tried and failed metformin, a metformin combination drug, or insulin. Florida Blue does not cover Mounjaro or any GLP-1 for weight loss. Zepbound is the tirzepatide FDA-approved for weight loss, and Florida Blue excludes it along with Wegovy and Saxenda.
