What this means in practice
MassHealth ended coverage of weight-loss drugs on July 3, 2026 (Pharmacy Facts 271): Wegovy, Zepbound and Saxenda are no longer covered for obesity or overweight. GLP-1s remain covered for heart protection (BMI over 27 with established cardiovascular disease), MASH (a fatty liver disease) and sleep apnea (BMI over 30).
Managed-care organizations in Massachusetts
Massachusetts Medicaid pays private health plans, called managed-care organizations or MCOs, to run its coverage. An MCO has to cover at least what the state list covers and can add rules of its own. Check your own plan's current rules before you send anything in.
