What this means in practice
Maryland Medicaid states plainly that Wegovy is not covered when the only indication is chronic weight management (transmittal PT 35-25, effective September 15, 2024). It is covered for adults 18 and over with established cardiovascular disease who are overweight or obese and do not have diabetes. MCOs must follow the same criteria.
