Do GLP-1 supplements work?

By John Samaras, EditorPrices checked September 28, 2026

No. Nothing sold as a GLP-1 supplement is a GLP-1 drug. In the studies, the ingredients moved weight by a few pounds or not at all. In the drug trials, people lost 14 to 21 percent of their body weight on average.

These supplements cost $15 to $90 a month. A prescription costs $149 a month, with auto-refill, at Strut Health, for compounded semaglutide, a pharmacy-made version that is not FDA-approved and is not Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound or Mounjaro.

Two cash programs to check.

Lawsuits and FDA letters

Buyers have filed 8 class actions over the GLP-1 claims on the products above since March 2025, and 4 are still open. Each date in the table links to the court's docket. A lawsuit is an allegation until a court rules on it. The FDA has also written to sellers whose products were advertised with GLP-1 claims:

  • December 10, 2024: The FDA told the seller of Veronvy weight-loss drops, advertised with “The Science of GLP-1,” that they are unapproved new drugs.
  • March 31, 2026: The FDA told an eBay seller that its “GLP-1 Weight Control Oral Solution” is an unapproved new drug.

What the drug costs instead

A GLP-1 drug needs a prescription. Every price here is a monthly cash price with no insurance. The cheapest on our chart is $149 a month, with auto-refill, at Strut Health, for compounded semaglutide. Novo Nordisk sells the Wegovy pill for $149 a month at the 1.5 mg starting dose and $299 at the dose you stay on. Eli Lilly sells Zepbound for $299 to $449 a month by dose.

The chart ranks every program by what it charges each month, and GLP-1 without insurance lays out the three ways to pay.

No. Berberine is a plant compound, not a GLP-1 drug. A 2025 review of 23 trials found 0.88 kg, about 2 pounds, more weight lost than the comparison group.
Do GLP-1 patches work?
No published study in people shows that any supplement patch works. Two sellers of GLP-1 patches have faced class actions, and some of these patches are now sold as berberine patches.
What does a real GLP-1 cost without insurance?
The lowest cash price GLP Chart tracks is $149 a month, with auto-refill, at Strut Health, for compounded semaglutide, a pharmacy-made version that is not FDA-approved and is not Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound or Mounjaro.
