What the GEHA brochure says

Anti-Obesity Medications (glucagon-like peptide-1 and other related sub-categories, as determined by the Plan): The member cost sharing will increase to 50%. The varied tiered cost sharing will no longer apply for these services.

Source: GEHA Benefit Plan (High and Standard) 2027 brochure, Changes section, on opm.gov, read November 2, 2026.

  • The brochure says joining the program, which includes intensive behavioral therapy, is required "before and during" approval of any anti-obesity medication.
  • The 50% applies at retail and through mail order, and prior authorization is still required.
  • GEHA's High Deductible Health Plan and Indemnity Benefit Plan brochures carry the same kind of change, so read the one for your own plan.

GEHA says the program costs nothing for members who enroll with its virtual partner. Ask GEHA who that partner is before January, because the brochure does not name it.

What cash costs today

The brochure states a share of the plan allowance. Ask the plan for your drug's allowance, then compare it with these.

Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are pharmacy-made versions that are not FDA-approved and are not Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound or Mounjaro.
