Traveling with a GLP-1 over the holidays
Know how long your pen keeps out of the fridge, what your label says if travel lands on dose day, and when to refill so a holiday delay does not change your price. Every line below is from the FDA label. Checked November 4.

If a travel day lands on dose day
| Drug | A late dose | Moving your dose day |
|---|---|---|
| Wegovy injection | Take it if the next scheduled dose is more than 2 days away. Skip it if the next dose is less than 2 days away, and resume on the regular day. | The label says the time of day and the injection site can change without a dosage modification. |
| Zepbound | Within 4 days (96 hours), take it. Past 4 days, skip it and take the next dose on the regular day. | Allowed if at least 3 days (72 hours) separate the two doses. |
| Ozempic injection | Within 5 days, take it. Past 5 days, skip it and take the next dose on the regular day. | Allowed if at least 2 days, more than 48 hours, separate the two doses. |
| Mounjaro | Within 4 days (96 hours), take it. Past 4 days, skip it and take the next dose on the regular day. | Allowed if at least 3 days (72 hours) separate the two doses. |
Every rule, drug by drug: GLP-1 missed dose rules.
Refills before the holidays
Pharmacies and telehealth programs ship on business days, so a refill due in the last week of November or December can arrive late. Two price rules make the timing matter:
- LillyDirect's Zepbound price is $449 at 7.5mg to 15mg if you refill within 45 days, otherwise $499 at 7.5mg and $699 at 10mg to 15mg. Every dose and price: Zepbound cost.
- A compounded multi-dose vial has a beyond-use date, and the FDA generally recommends using a vial within 28 days of first use: beyond-use date.

Questions
Can a GLP-1 pen go without the fridge while I travel?
For a while. Each label sets its own limit: the table above prints it product by product. Count the days from when it first left the fridge, and keep it in its carton away from heat and light.
What if my dose day is a travel day?
Each label allows a late dose inside a set window and a change of dose day with a set gap between doses. The second table prints both for each drug. If you are unsure, ask your prescriber or pharmacist before you go.
Will a holiday refill change what I pay?
It can. LillyDirect's Zepbound price is $449 at 7.5mg to 15mg if you refill within 45 days, otherwise $499 at 7.5mg and $699 at 10mg to 15mg. A late refill over the holidays can move you to the higher price.
