ACA Marketplace 2027: enroll by December 15 and check the drug list

By GLP ChartDates read October 27, 2026 on HealthCare.gov

You can pick a 2027 Marketplace plan from November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Pick by December 15 and it starts January 1. Whether it pays for Wegovy, Zepbound or another GLP-1 depends on that plan's own 2027 drug list, so read the list before you choose.

The dates, and what each one means

How to tell whether a 2027 plan covers your GLP-1

  • Each plan covers the drugs on its formulary, which is its approved drug list. Drugs on that list usually cost you less. To see whether a plan covers a drug, check the plan's own drug list before you pick it. Source: HealthCare.gov, getting prescription medications, read October 27, 2026.

On each plan's drug list, look for three things: the drug by its brand name, any note that it needs prior authorization, and the tier, which sets the copay. A plan can list a GLP-1 for type 2 diabetes and still exclude it for weight loss, so read the limits beside the name.

If the plan you picked leaves it off

  • If your plan does not cover a drug your doctor prescribes, you can use the plan's drug exceptions process. Your doctor tells the plan why the drug is right for you, and if the plan agrees it generally charges the copay for its most expensive covered tier. A prior authorization letter is the usual first step, and an appeal letter is the next one if the plan says no.
