Does Independence Blue Cross cover GLP-1 medications?

Yes for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. No for obesity / weight loss only.

No for weight loss alone. Independence Blue Cross stopped covering GLP-1 drugs prescribed only for weight loss on January 1, 2025. It still covers GLP-1s with prior authorization for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
